Hunger beyond Food

There was a man stuck on a rooftop in a flood.

He prayed to ask God to save him. A rowboat came to rescue him but the man said he is praying to God and He is going to save him. After the rowboat left, a motorboat came and offered to save him. Again, he said he is praying to God and He will save him.

As the flood was getting high, a helicopter flew above him and lowered a rope for him to climb up. He said the same thing!

Soon, the flood covered the entire roof and the man drowned. When he got to heaven, he asked God why He did not save him. God said, "I sent you a rowboat, a motorboat, and a helicopter! What more did you expect?"

The effects of the pandemic are immeasurable. Similar to the delirious drowning man, it is hard to think right at the same time. We pray for more. God provides and we missed to receive His blessings because we are expecting another thing.

People are more hungry in relationships than food. Rarely you'll find people dying of starvation in the US. However, according to overdoselifeline.org , there are about 29 overdoses per day in Marion County alone. People are hungry beyond food.

However, food is necessary.

We are now accepting requests from food pantries that are not receiving from any other sources of the perishable food boxes.

Giving food to those in need is a noble way to help our neighbors but even better if we can also offer them other resources such as prayers and connections to other community agencies that provide addiction counseling, job training,...

You and I can reach out to those in need. We can alleviate hunger beyond food... together.

God bless you!
